lake cabin visit
Okay, I am a week and a half late in posting this one. (well maybe not since i am not on any schedule to do these postings).
The weekend of the 12th of June, we went over to a friends lake cabin. I was apprehensive about this as I had never "roughed" it and was expecting the cabin to be a roughing spot ;). However, I was in for a pleasant and nice surprise. The cabin was very nice. had all modern facilities (including running water).
The weather was nice, not too hot (and hence no bugs). We took a pontoon ride the first night saw the whole lake saw a couple of beaver dams. It was nice to have the kids enjoy the whole ride.. (these were friends of ours through our kids). (to put it in reference: Chitra and Annika (the kids, ours and theirs) went to the same day care for over 2 years.)
The next day we spent the morning (Kurt, Myself and the three girls (Chitra, Pallavi and Annika) went on a pontoon ride around the lake because the girls wanted it. This time we saw a Bald eagle, loons, and one more beaver dam. It was quite nice... the lake was still not too much of a breeze and it was not too hot either.
later on in the morning we went out to Nanna's house (Annika's grandmother). and Nanna has a nice house and a beach with sand to go with it. The girls played around in the sand, we had a nice picnic lunch all in all a nice restful afternoon.
we returned at some point in the evening, We had pizza for dinner.
then put the kids to sleep, played bananagram with Kurt and Adrienne. (turns out I really suck at the game). I saw some yellow lady slipper s(The pink ones are our state flower), Kurt showed me how to recognize poison ivy.
Next morning woke up got ready and had blueberry pancakes for breakfast and headed back to town.
The kids were happy that we did the trip. (Pallavi had a tough time, she got an ear infection in both her ears (she had a cold when we went to the cabin)). We even stopped at the Wadena DQ, and the kids had lunch there...
It was a very relaxing weekend. I loved it thoroughly. I realized after that weekend, why so many Minnesotans have cabins by the lake. I would like one as well. (maybe asking for too much but hey right now in the frame of mind I am in, I think it would be great)
