to organic or not to organic
OK, So We bought a CSA farmshare over summer, becuase we thought it would be a great way to "save" (both money and the environment). It was disappointing in terms of the actual share of produce. However, it felt good to be part of the growing (or already grown) movment of the CSA Farmshares. I am searching for new better and improved CSA farmshare providers.
We also had planted some tomato plants and a cucumber plan and a squash plant (Don't ask me what kind, I do not know). The harvest from these plants was great. I found it to be quite satisfying getting veggies form my own backyard.
Next year/season I will be planting a bigger variety. (I even managed to clear out a whole patch in the yard). Maybe this time around I will grow the plants from seeds rather than by buying the plants from the Farmers market ( or maybe not ;) )
On the thought of the whole sustainability and being environmentally friendly, I read an article in the NYTimes, that talked about Michael Crichton's speech in 2003 comparing environmentalism and christian belief and that enviromentalism needs to be go back to what it is supposed to be by pursuing a more scientific approach to it.
